Who are we ?
Boy Scout Troop 118 is part of the Lenape Trail District, Northern NJ Council, Boy Scouts of America. We are committed to imparting: self-reliance, leadership, outdoor skills and fun all in a Jewish setting. We are proud to be chartered by the Jewish War Veterans. Boy Scouting is for boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts (and are at least 10 1/2) or have completed the fifth grade, or who are 11 through 17 years old. The troop observes the laws of kashrut (we only eat kosher food) and is Shabbat observant in all its activities. When participating in troop activities, we always cover our heads. Details are covered in our Troop Rules
We meet several Sunday evenings a month. Take a look at our calendar to see when our next meeting is. Want to check us out? Just call one of the leaders listed below and you can come to one of our meetings.
In addition to troop campouts at various camps, we go hiking and indoor wall climbing. We go camping all year round. We march in the Celebrate Israel parade and help out at our federation's fund raising. During a lock-in campout, we worked on a synagogue's library, watched movies and had a great time. Whatever we do, we try to have lots of fun. Look at some of our activities
In the summer of 2018, we will camp at Camp Big Springs, located at Resica Falls Scout Reservation, in East Stroudsburg, PA. All our food is kosher and we hold daily morning and Shabbat services. All of this is at a first-class Scout camp. We will earn lots of merit badges and make lots of new friends.
The Troop is very proud of its Eagle Scouts, the highest rank a Scout can achieve. Eagle Scouts must complete a significant project for a non-Scout organization. We have celebrated fifteen scouts achieving this rank. Here are some pictures of several Eagle Scout projects
Our Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack are sponsored by the North Essex Post 146 Jewish War Veterans.
